Sega Teases New House of the Dead Arcade Game With VR

Sega's arcade division has teased a new House of the Dead game, with a 30-second clip pointing to a reveal at IAAPA 2026 in November. Reports indicate the project will use VR technology and the guns seen in Sega and 3MindWave's 2022 VR Agent, while a Sega Amusements page and Attractions Magazine mention the title House of the Dead Reawakened and Unreal Engine 5. The light-gun series began in 1997 and last received an arcade sequel in 2018 with Scarlet Dawn, alongside spin-offs and film adaptations.
Sega's coin-op arm has offered a brief look at what appears to be a fresh House of the Dead title. The clip runs about half a minute and points toward a November reveal at IAAPA 2026. Its gothic imagery features a pair of firearms previously tied to VR Agent, the 2022 Sega and 3MindWave collaboration.
Reports connect the project to VR and identify a Sega Amusements webpage using the name House of the Dead Reawakened. Attractions Magazine has also linked that title to Unreal Engine 5. The light-gun franchise launched in 1997 and has four arcade follow-ups, the latest being 2018's Scarlet Dawn.
If the teased title reaches arcades, it could draw nostalgic players and newcomers to venue-based VR, potentially benefiting arcade operators seeking premium attractions. Horror fans may see renewed interest in the long-running series, while VR hardware and content partners could gain visibility. The impact may remain niche, tied to locations with suitable equipment and audiences comfortable with immersive horror.
