Fan Update Expands Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire With New Modes and Pokémon

A fan-made update for Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, known as Plus, has reached version 1.1. It introduces 22 additional Pokémon, a new area, a bonus stage, and a PokéNav, plus shiny Pokémon and shiny boss encounters. The patch also adds hardcore mode, secret bosses, e-reader Pokémon, new Poké Balls, and mid-game board switching, and can now be downloaded through HackDex for use with a legally acquired US ROM.
Callum, known online as callumsmilee, has developed Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire Plus, a fan update for the Game Boy Advance title. Version 1.1 builds on his earlier release, which already included shiny Pokémon, shiny boss fights, an expanded Pokédex, hardcore mode, secret bosses, e-reader Pokémon, new Poké Balls, and more.
The latest version adds 22 Pokémon, a new area, a bonus stage, a PokéNav, and Shiny Board Pokémon. It is now downloadable through HackDex rather than only Callum's Discord. Players need a legally acquired US ROM to patch. Those upgrading from the first version should rename their old save file to match the new ROM to keep progress.
This update may energize Pokémon Pinball fans and retro handheld players, giving them fresh goals and reasons to revisit a decades-old GBA title. It could also highlight how fan patches extend game lifespans and sustain niche communities around ROM hacking. Because it requires a legally acquired ROM, it may keep attention on the legal and ethical lines around fan projects, affecting hobbyists, preservationists, and rights holders in differing ways.
