Aniimo's Mobile Release Adds Cross-Play and Co-Op to Its Creature-Catching World
Aniimo, a creature-catching RPG from Pawprint Studio, is now available on mobile with full cross-play and cross-progression across PC and consoles. The game features over 200 creatures, a Twining mechanic that lets players merge with them, and an open world called Idyll. Co-op tools like the Horn and Flute allow players to call for help or invite others to their location.
The mobile launch follows a successful debut week on PC and consoles, where the game reached the top ten on Steam's global bestseller chart. Players on Android can now join those on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through full cross-play and cross-progression support, with progress syncing across Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the developer's own platform.
The roster includes over 200 creatures whose forms shift based on weather and biome conditions. New additions like Squarrel, a rolling squirrel-type with combo-based attacks, and Sparkelf join the lineup. The Twining mechanic lets players merge with creatures to use their abilities for combat, traversal, and puzzles, while the Homeland system offers personalized housing, farming, and cooperative activities.
This release could reshape expectations for creature-collecting games on mobile, where cross-play with console and PC remains relatively uncommon. Players who previously avoided mobile versions due to fragmented progress may now find a unified experience, potentially expanding the game's community across platforms. The co-op tools could also encourage more social play patterns, though the long-term impact will depend on how well the mobile version sustains engagement alongside its established counterparts.
