Fan-Made VR Mod for Gears of War: E-Day Targets Full Campaign

A free PC VR mod for Gears of War: E-Day is in development and aims to support the entire single-player campaign. The creator says stereo rendering, full-body IK, manual reloads, weapon switching, two-handed aiming, cover combat, and gunner positions are already working. Online co-op is not planned for now, and the mod remains a work in progress with no release date.
The project is a free fan effort by rockonthehill for the PC version of Gears of War: E-Day, which launched in 2026. Its current goals cover the whole single-player campaign, while online co-op is excluded for now. The mod is still early, with no release date, and its repository may build on Praydog’s UEVR framework for Unreal Engine titles.
Already demonstrated features include stereoscopic output, full-body inverse kinematics, hand-operated reloads and weapon swaps, two-handed aiming, cover-based fighting, and King Raven gunner roles. Planned additions include a Lancer chainsaw without canned animations, physical melee, hand and weapon colliders, and a functional Longshot scope. A feature video is expected soon.
This mod could mainly affect PC VR headset owners and Gears fans who want a more immersive way to play the campaign, though its single-player focus may leave co-op groups waiting. Its progress may also encourage more fan-made VR conversions, especially for titles built in Unreal Engine, and could influence how developers and players view demand for unofficial VR support. Because it is free and unfinished, its broader impact may depend on stability, performance, and eventual release.
