Ice Dragon Platformer Binky: Frozen in Time Hits Commodore 64

Thalamus Digital has released Binky: Frozen in Time, a new single-screen platformer for the Commodore 64. Players control an ice dragon who must freeze every platform in each cavern to open an exit portal. Developed by Snowball Games with veterans behind Bounder and Rick Dangerous, the title is available now as a .D64 file, with a physical release and ports to other retro formats planned.
Thalamus Digital has published Binky: Frozen in Time, a new Commodore 64 single-screen platformer from Snowball Games. The player guides an ice dragon across each cavern, freezing every platform to unlock an exit portal. The game contains 20 hazard-filled stages with tougher layouts and enemies.
Chris Shrigley and Terry Lloyd designed and coded it; their past work includes Bounder, Bulldog, Future Knight, and Rick Dangerous. Simon Phipps, formerly of Gremlin Graphics, created the cover art, while Tomas Danko composed the SID music. It is sold as a .D64 file, with a physical edition and possible Amiga, Atari ST, and ZX Spectrum ports planned.
This release may mainly affect retro gaming enthusiasts and Commodore 64 collectors, giving them a new commercial title decades after the platform's peak. It could also support small-scale preservation and homebrew communities by showing that veteran developers and publishers still see value in vintage hardware. If ports and a physical run appear, they may broaden access for players who use emulators or other retro systems, though the immediate impact is likely niche rather than mainstream.
