Cat-in-a-mech Metroidvania Gato Roboto joins Crunchyroll Game Vault

Gato Roboto, a 2019 Metroidvania featuring a cat piloting a mech suit, is now available through Crunchyroll Game Vault on iOS and Android. The story follows Kiki as she attempts to rescue her owner, Captain Gary, after a crash on an alien world. Players can switch between the mech and Kiki on foot, collect upgrades, and explore sectors such as a lab and an underwater aqueduct; access requires a Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan membership.
Gato Roboto originally launched in 2019 as a Metroidvania. Its plot begins after Captain Gary crashes on an alien world. Kiki, his cat, must rescue him while other crew members are unconscious. Players guide her inside a mech armed with a blaster, micro-missiles, and double jump, or outside it to swim, climb, and enter narrow pipes.
The game spans areas including a laboratory, an underwater aqueduct, and a heater core. Upgrades like the dash open previously unreachable routes. Optional discoveries include turrets, a submarine section, and health expansions. A boss is a talking mouse piloting its own mech. Access comes via Crunchyroll Game Vault with Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan membership on iOS and Android.
This addition may give Crunchyroll subscribers another reason to explore Game Vault, potentially exposing anime fans to indie Metroidvanias. Mobile players who already pay for Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan could gain convenient access without separate purchase. The game's cat protagonist and compact exploration may appeal to casual and genre fans, though membership requirement could limit reach. It may also encourage more subscription-based mobile game curation.
