Meta to Offer Cinching Strap for VR Glasses During Active Play

Meta intends to sell a cinching strap accessory for its upcoming VR Glasses so the headset stays secure during energetic movement. The strap links the ends of the glasses' detachable temple arms instead of replacing the entire head strap. Meta has also mentioned a magnetic light blocker and prescription lenses from Zenni, but has not said whether the strap will be included or sold separately.
Meta revealed the accessory at Connect 2026, alongside its VR Glasses launch window of spring 2027 and $1,300 price. The glasses are said to run the same titles as Quest, using built-in hand tracking or optional Touch Plus controllers. The cinching strap joins the detachable temple-arm tips, rather than substituting a whole head strap.
No images have been shown. A hands-on report described the glasses as stable enough for ordinary wear, but quick head turns, body movement, or prolonged downward looking may require extra tightening to protect the narrow viewing sweet spot. Meta also mentioned a magnetic light blocker and Zenni prescription lenses, without confirming whether the strap ships with the device or costs extra.
Meta’s accessory plan may shape how comfortable and secure glasses-style XR feels during active use. Buyers who wear prescription lenses or play movement-heavy games could benefit if fit improves, while extra-cost accessories may raise the total price. If such straps become standard, they could encourage broader everyday and fitness-oriented mixed-reality use, though adoption will depend on comfort, pricing, and whether essentials are bundled.
