Remedy environment artist to discuss Control Resonant world-building at PGC Nordics

Remedy Entertainment head of environment art Miro Vesterinen will speak at Pocket Gamer Connects Nordics on October 20th and 21st. His day-one session on the Big Screen Gaming track is titled Environment Art and World-Building of Control Resonant. The talk will cover creative foundations and procedurally assisted workflows for building large-scale environments.
Miro Vesterinen, Remedy's head of environment art, will present on day one of PGC Nordics, held October 20–21 in Helsinki. His Big Screen Gaming session examines how Control Resonant translates Control's paranatural setting into a fictional Manhattan, showing how zones gain identity and how factions influence their surroundings.
The second part covers production methods: blending handmade assets with procedural generation, modular design, rule-based placement, variation, and reuse for visual consistency. The event, now in its 13th edition at Wanha Satama, expects over 1,500 professionals from more than 50 countries, plus summits and firms such as Rovio, Embark, and Wooga.
The session could help developers and artists understand scalable environment workflows, potentially influencing how studios approach large open-world production. Nordic event attendees may gain networking and recruitment opportunities, while players might indirectly benefit if such methods lead to richer, more cohesive game worlds. As a knowledge-sharing talk, its immediate societal impact is likely limited, but it may contribute to industry trends around artist-guided procedural tools and cross-studio collaboration.
